Sunday bits and pieces.
#064
Good morning from the ridge where it’s a balmy 46º this fine Sunday. We’ve had a busy week and this week’s newsletter is a bits and pieces edition.
First and foremost, the foxes are still very active. I still haven’t seen any kits, but I’m hoping that any day now I’ll get a glimpse of them. Mom and dad have certainly been more active as of late.
It’s about time to get the garden going. This week, I hope to weed and till it before getting a truckload of mushroom compost from one of our local farm supply stores. This will be our third gardening year and we’re still trying to figure out how to avoid food waste. I tend to get pretty ambitious when planting and ultimately get overwhelmed when things start booming. It’s all about learning, right?
Soon, it’ll be time to brush hog the high grass and weeds (and autumn olive) that are starting to take off. After buying the attachment from my uncle last year and doing some basic maintenance on it, I think I finally have it dialed in and ready to use.
Since buying the Toyota Yaris last month, I’ve only driven my truck a couple of times. With no foreseeable end to high gas prices, I’m glad I was able to find a fuel efficient car to run around in that doesn’t break the bank. It’s also a fun little car to drive!
I’m on a thirteen day streak of shooting my bow. I’m getting more comfortable with fine-tuning the sights and making incremental adjustments. I enjoy the practice and consistency archery offers.
I’m hoping to dive back into my photographic projects soon. I’m also trying to be OK with the ebb and flow of how projects work and find the joy in being creative in others ways, too.
How do you balance life, work, and your creative pursuits? Are you planting a garden this year?

Balancing life, work, and creative pursuits is a never ending dance. I haven’t made many photos with intentionality in several months which is normal throughout the winter months. Instead I did finally create a photobook from a family vacation in 2024.
No garden for us, I know I would not dedicate the time needed for it, and instead we purchase vegetables from a wonderful organic, women owned farm not too far away. They deliver weekly and last year we moved to their largest weekly share size. It took planning but we ate more vegetables than ever and I’d say our waste was surprisingly little.
That read like someone just stopping in to make a visit!
Felt good to read.
Appreciate it.
