July is almost over and our garden is going full tilt now. Everything feels like it’s going full tilt now; work, life, personal work. That’s not a complaint, but simply an observation. While I don’t mind being busy, I do mind being spread so thin that I forget to take in little moments I miss when I’m “too” busy.
Earlier this week, I worked on an assignment for NPR in southwest Virginia (I’ll share more when the story runs next week). It was a long day, but the work was rewarding. The people I met were kind and gracious with their time and stories. It was an emotionally heavy day. (Thanks for the call, Meredith!)
I made a handful of personal pictures (shared here), but the day was full of working to get the images I needed for the assignment. The weather cooperated and I was glad to make it home well after dark.
Standing on a small foot bridge over the Pound River, I saw three river otters swimming toward me. I quickly changed lenses and managed to get a few pictures as they drew closer including this one.
At first glance, I thought it was just hamming it up for the camera, but someone on Facebook asked if it had a crawdad in its mouth. Zoomed in at 200%, you can make out that it is, in fact, a crawdad in its mouth.
